I worked on a series of portraits for MSU’s AT&T Awards, which recognizes “outstanding contributions to the use and development of information technology for teaching and learning.” Owen’s course, amongst seven others, was honored with an award for their work at MSU.

Dr. Lee June reads part of Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech to the crowd at Beaumont Tower on Monday, January 21. In commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. day, June and about fifty other participants marched from the MSU Union to Beaumont Tower, where various speakers shared ways in which Dr. King’s message are still relevant for students today.

MSU Students for the Broad Art Museum and Thrive With Less are providing you with a chance to connect with your community!
On Wednesday October 17, we’ll be hosting an event at the Broad Art Museum’s fall annex, the former Barnes and Noble on Grand River Ave. in East Lansing. Attendees will have the opportunity to share some food, watch and discuss a documentary film, and, best of all, participate in a community art project!
The project we’ll be working on is led by Los Angeles based artist Fritz Haeg. Haeg has been the artist in residence at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum this fall. His project is presented as a spirally stitched rug made of discarded textiles from the community. The community woven rug will be displayed in the museum’s education wing upon the museum’s grand opening on November 10. To make it even cooler, Haeg has been working on the rug right here in East Lansing, and many of us have helped create it. This event is your opportunity to get involved as well! And we’ll even show you how to help - no experience necessary!
Starting at 6:30, we’ll begin our evening with a potluck dinner. Bring a dish to pass, and you’ll get to share food with others in the community. Then, we’re going to sit down and watch the documentary film, Thrive With Less while we dine. Afterwards, we’ll take some time to discuss the film with the filmmakers while we work on the rug.
